What are Allergies?

Allergies are a state of disharmony within ourselves or with the world around us. Most people experience some form of allergy, though most are unaware of this. Allergies drain our body's vitality and mimic most all disease physically and mentally. Even such things as depression, ADD, and schizophrenia are sometimes allergy related. In most cases they are relatively easy to treat. Dr Bamberger uses acupuncture allergy desensitization to restore the body to greater levels of wellness.

When a person is weakened or tired he or she is likely to become reactive to more substances and the reactions which to occur are tend to be more severe.

Symptoms of Allergies and Sensitivities

Although allergies can mimic almost any illness, the following are common indicators. If you experience any of these symptoms upon exposure to a substance you might be experiencing an an allergy or sensitivity reaction.

- Sudden drop of energy
- Increasing heart rate
-  Breaking out in sweat without obvious cause
- Runny nose, sneezing
- Swelling of body and fluid retention
- Irritability
- Confusion
- Pain of unknown origin
- Asthma or shortness of breath
- Mental and emotional disturbances including depression, schizophrenia,  bi-polar disorder, among others
- Craving of a particular substance which when ingested makes one feel better.

Types of Allergies

Acute or immediate onset allergies usually produce symptoms in less than 5 minutes. Typical symptoms include wheezing, hives and itching. Delayed onset allergies usually have an onset may be within a few hours up to a week after exposure to the allergen. Many food allergies are delayed allergies. These allergies often go undiagnosed. The symptoms they produce may mimic most diseases known to man.

Types of Allergens

- Things in our environment - such as environmental pollution and other chemicals, pollen, pet dander, etc.
- Medications
- Herbal remedies
- Nutritional supplements
- Whole foods, including organic foods
- Specific nutrients in our foods - such as vitamins and minerals necessary for health and well being.
- Drugs and alcohol - an allergy to drugs or alcohol forms the basis for addiction.

One indicator of an allergy is that an individual often craves the thing to which he or she is allergic.) Treatment of an alcoholic or a drug addict for allergy to the thing which he or she is addicted, often helps to clear the addiction.

Sensitivities

These are reactions that produce reactions that occur in the body's energy systems, rather than a chemical reaction, such as the antibody-antigen reactions that are seen in true allergies. Many people who suffer from sensitivities are told by a traditional medical doctor that the allergy is all in their head in light of the absence of the medical diagnostic indicators. As a result they don't get the care that they need. Sensitivity reactions may be to anything food or chemicals in food, water or substances in the water, the air we breathe or chemicals in the air, substances in the environment in or around your home and office, medicines, herbs, nutritional supplements, people, places, life events, life situations.

Autoimmune Diseases

Autoimmune diseases are an allergy to your own body parts or the substances they produce - These are usually delayed response allergies. Some of the many examples of diseases now considered to be autoimmune diseases include various forms of arthritis, fibromyalgia, many chronic degenerative diseases, multiple sclerosis, lupus, and many glandular disorders - such as certain types of hypothyroidism and diabetes, among others.

Some Hidden Causes of Allergies and Sensitivities

Today we know that body, mind, emotions, and spirit interact in profound ways, and that many states of disease are the result of disharmony between body and consciousness. We treat the body and consciousness as a wholeness when addressing allergies.

Our doctors have found that a negative state of consciousness can create a negatively charged relationship within us to things in us or our environment -  and we become "allergic" to that which we have a negative charge. The body remembers the adverse association and we react again and again. This forms the basis of many atypical allergies.

Sometimes allergies, like many diseases, do arise in the head. We treat disease wherever, knowing that as you think in your heart, so you become.  it arises and work to restore our patients to optimal wellness.
